Update (May 2025): I read this article “ChatGPT vs Gemini vs Perplexity vs Claude : Which AI Assistant is Best?” by GeekyGadgets and visualized their comparison below:

COMPARISON OF FRONTIER AI MODELS

2. Generated by Napkin AI

Notes/Updates:

  1. Claude’s differentiation on safety: Detecting and Countering Malicious Uses of Claude by Anthropic: Anthropic is committed to preventing misuse of its Claude models by adversarial actors while maintaining their utility. Some actors have misused the models, including an influence-as-a-service operation, credential stuffing, recruitment fraud, and a novice actor using AI to enhance malware generation. Anthropic has taken steps to detect and counter such misuse, including banning accounts and improving detection methods.
  2. Perplexity offers an open-sourced, uncensored version of Deepseek. “Perplexity open-sourced the model weights for R1 1776, an uncensored version of R1 that the company says “has been post-trained to provide unbiased, accurate, and factual information,” according to the announcement. Perplexity notes that its decensoring training process did not negatively impact other parts of the model’s performance, including math and reasoning.” Read more here.
  3. Enterprises that cannot afford any hallucinations can consult to AI assistants claiming higher accuracy, such as Contextual AI. It is an AI assistant based on a grounded language model (GLM) developed using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). General-purpose models such as ChatGPT or Claude, are built for a wide range of tasks from creative writing to technical documentation. However, Contextual AI specializes in high-stakes enterprise environments where accuracy is critical. Read more here.
  4. Claude is said to be better than ChatGPT in several areas; mainly creative writing and providing more features for free users. The article linked below suggests Claude is better than ChatGPT on these four dimensions: Creative Writing; Offers Multimodality for Free; Larger Context Window; and More Messages Per Hour. Read more here.
  5. Anthropic is the parent company of Claude AI. They also have the Console portal. “Claude” refers to the AI model itself, a large language model capable of generating human-like text. “Anthropic Console” is a developer platform that provides tools to build prompts and interact with the Claude model. It essentially acts as a control panel for accessing and customizing Claude’s capabilities through an API interface. You can think of Claude as the AI assistant and the Console as the developer workbench to fine-tune its functionality. Read more here.
